"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall"

Nelson Mandela

What is Psychological Therapy?

The aim of psychological therapy is to improve your wellbeing and happiness. Often this means finding better ways to live with anxiety or depression. At other times people need help to improve their relationships or to recover from trauma.

Whatever the reason, therapy can help you to overcome life’s troubles and allow you to focus on what really matters to you.

Understanding the Different Titles within our Clinical Team

Psychologist:
A Psychologist (sometimes referred to as a Registered Psychologist) has completed an undergraduate degree in psychology and a full period of supervised practice. They must have current registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) to practice. To maintain registration, a Psychologist needs to engage in an approved process of professional development and maintain their skills in a professional setting.
Clinical Psychologist:
A Clinical Psychologist has completed an undergraduate post-graduate degree in psychology and a full period of supervised practice. They must have current registration with AHPRA to practice. To maintain registration, a Clinical Psychologist needs to engage in an approved process of professional development and maintain their skills in a professional setting. The essential difference between a Psychologist and a Clinical Psychologist, therefore, is that a Clinical Psychologist has completed more formal qualifications and therefore may be in a better position to develop and monitor evidence- based assessment processes and intervention programs as required.
Provisional Psychologist:
A Provisional Psychologist has completed an undergraduate degree in psychology and is engaged in a program of supervised practice approved by AHPRA as part of provisional registration. At our practice, Provisional Psychologists are supervised by the Principal Clinical Psychologist (Jon Grainger).
