Changes to normal practice during COVID-19 Pandemic
As some of you may already know the practice is remaining open during the COVID-19 pandemic. To stay well and to be responsible to the community we serve and live in, we have made changes to the way we practice.
Clients now have a choice of having their session over the phone or via telehealth (a video link using the internet). Face-to-face sessions will remain unavailable until we are on the other side of the COVID-19 crisis. We will let you know when this service resumes.
Telehealth: I recommend this option if you have a computer and reliable internet on at home. The sessions are most helpful when we see each other. I recommend that you give some thought to your privacy and the likelihood of distractions while you are in session. You may prefer to use a headset/ headphones to minimise the likelihood that others hear the full conversation.
Up till now we have been using popular platforms like Skype, Zoom, and FaceTime and this has been largely successful. Unfortunately however, all of these options have limitations in terms of privacy and security. So from Monday 6th April we will be trialling a purpose built telehealth system. To use this you will be sent a link and password when you get your appointment reminder SMS. For best result please use our telehealth service from your computer. The new system can be used on phone / tablet, but it is not optimised for those systems.
If at any time we experience technical difficulties, or you if you need some help getting started, Jon will contact you on your phone number and we will go from there.
Telephone: If you would prefer a phone session then let us know before your session and Jon will call you on your preferred number at the time of your appointment.
Telephone sessions can also be very beneficial. Again, I recommend that you give some consideration to your location in the house and the use of a headset or headphones if you have them. ____________________________
Lastly, I just want to acknowledge what an unusual and challenging time this is for all of us. Please remember that your experience is important and worthwhile and that we will all need help from time to time as we go through this. We will all have to make changes to maintain the social connections and professional assistance that we need.
From our end, we have found that there has been a significant increase in inquiries and extra time going into each session to accommodate these changes. As a result we have been a little slower than usual in responding to queries and requests. I thank you all for your patience while we make these adjustments.
We appreciate opportunity to help our clients and community adapt to the challenges which have arisen in our life, and look forward to continuing to do so well into the future.
